In the historic centre of Palermo, another Italian city ravaged by overtourism, two filmmakers document a liminal moment in the life of a noble palace falling into ruin, where they live alongside other castaways of a city facing extinction, between the end of a centuries-long glorious decline and the beginning of a treacherous rebirth.

DISTRIBUTION
From June 2026, the film will be distributed in Italian cinemas by Lazy Film as part of the “Il Cantiere Tour” project, supported by MIC and SIAE under the “Per chi crea” programme. Lazy Film is collaborating with festivals, cinemas and social spaces. The primary aim of this cinema tour is not only to support the promotion of a new work by young filmmakers, but also to encourage collective reflection on the decline of historic town centres, on the relationship between the centre and the suburbs, and on the interplay between collective needs and new forms of social and economic marginalisation. The index developed by the Demoskopika Institute takes into account five key indicators: tourist density, accommodation density, tourist intensity, bed occupancy rates and the volume of urban waste generated by tourists. By 2025, as many as ten provinces will be at the most critical level. Among these are those that will be visited by the tour: Bologna, Turin, Padua, Milan, Rome, Palermo, Lecce, Naples, Florence and Genoa.
